I am not a member of the PA Hillclimb association but have gone to numerous events at Giant's Despair over the past few years and a couple times to Weatherly. One day one of the numerous "Instant Tetanus Kits" in my garage and BIL's field ( Yeah, I know) will become a hillclimber. But I do try to get out & enjoy NEPA in the summer.

Since it's snowing on the first day of Spring and I'm daydreaming about all the cool & fun stuff to do this summer, I thought I'd post the hillclimb schedule:

May 2-3 Rose Valley Hillclimb - Trout Run

May 23-24 Jefferson Circuit - Summit Point, WV

June 13-14 Weatherly Hillclimb - Weatherly

June 27-28 Pagoda Hillclimb - Reading

July 11-12 Giant's Despair Hillclimb - Laurel Run (Wilkes-Barre)

August 1-2 Polish Mountain Hillclimb - Flintstone, MD

August 15-16 Duryea Hillclimb - Reading

September 5-6 Jefferson Circuit - Summit Point, WV

Sept 19-20 Weatherly Hillclimb - Weatherly

It's pretty neat when you can observe the underside of a car while it's on course!

Some girl won Giant's Despair back in the day.

Carroll is a girl's name, right?

Once there was a military guy that won.

Does anyone recall what he was the "Captain" of?

I heard that Chevrolet was king of the hill once,

But last year a Ford was in the winner's car.

This seems like the kind of thing I should try. I'm not sure why I haven't yet.

I was thinking about going, have never been, if you see this or anyone that knows where the heck do you park?

I was driving by on Thursday in my work van while they were setting up the fences. My little ford transit barely makes It up that hill haha

In reply to nepa03focus:

There is a paid parking just before the paddock area. It's on the left, just before the start line. You might get lucky and find a spot on the main road (E. Northampton St)- or you can try to park on a side street a block or two away.

Since my inner 5-year old starts freaking out when I hear but can't see racecar, I just pay the $5.

My Dad gets to the Weatherly hillclimb pretty frequently. As a kid, I spent some time in the Weatherly area as we had family there. I'd love to get back up there and watch the hillclimb, but events scheduled during the school year pretty much leave me out. Sigh. Maybe when the young-uns are off to college.

There's a pretty awesome autocross at Pocono that I'll be running instead of spectating at Weatherly, though I might stop by on the way home if done in time. Hoping to actually run Pagoda in 2 weeks.

I have some great memeories, and a few trophies, from driving a 356 Porsche in the PHA back in the late '60s and early '70s. It was always a fun weekend.

Only ran Giant's one year, and my car was woefully underpowered, but it was still a great time, and it sure looked like the spectators were having a good time All the PHA events are great. I think Weatherly was my favorite though.

Weatherly Hillclimb is September 16-17. The last runs on Sunday are cool because people go for massive air on the jump up top since they have all winter to fix their stuff!

Pro tip: Don't park facing the wrong way or you WILL get a parking ticket.

Unless you break your transmission before the last run :(

Weatherly was for sure my favorite hillclimb.

You'll need to log in to post.
