Last Night I was mounting more anchor points in the new to me enclosed trailer.

My goal is to keep a clear path all the way around the Datsun.  I have 30 inches in front of the car, 18 inches to rear and 18 inches each side.

Currently I have mounted all of the tool caddies, fluids etc. and tie downs on the right side wall. Just forward of the right fender I have two ammo boxes with spares in them.

My Portable generator will go in the left front corner and my BMX bike will go in the right front corner (with the bars turned 90 degrees its up against the front wall) and the winch is dead center.

So here is the overthink; I have an empty spot in the right rear corner and my two gas jugs would fit perfectly but that means 60lbs of weight on the rear. I know realistically this isn’t going to have a big effect on tongue weight.  The generator is 45lbs and the ammo boxes of spares are 20lbs so it should be a wash.

So am I overthinking it?

I like the idea of the gas cans at the rear of the trailer so they can be accessed for filling when you get closer to the event.

Just my $.13 worth

Have a good weekend.

Where you headed?

I am going to Buttonwillow next month. I like to be ready early.

VARA?  Buttonwillow in September sounds pretty warm. :)

As far as fuel goes, personally I'm not a fan of putting full gas jugs in the trailer -- I'm just worried about filling it with fumes.  I prefer to transport them in the bed of the truck.

You pack light.  LOL  In my 20'  with the race car are two more sets of mounted tires, jacks, spare nose, spare wings, Zuma scooter, tools, and ramps.  Sometimes the set-up pad.   laugh and...i can get the car out without moving anything.    700# tongue weight works for my van, and RV.

If like most enclosed trailers, you have too much tongue weight already, as it is so easy to put stuff up in front of the car in the trailer, it depends on where your axles are.  I specifically have to put heavy things in the back of my trailer to try to reduce the tongue weight, because up in the front is the tool box, cabinets with spare parts, and usually the Yamaha scooter, plus whatever else is thrown in at the last minute.

IMHO, two things that absolutely need to be able to come out without moving stuff are the car and the trailer spare + tools to change it.

And I agree, there's so much crap that really wants to be in the trailer all the time.

I'm thinking I'll head down there in October.  NASA SoCal/WERC just announced they're doing a 3 hour enduro there with very low/zero entry fee, and that sounds fun.
