Anyone used Paeco out of Birmingham AL for any engine stuff?

Approach with caution - no direct experience, but I've heard way more negatives than positives. Things like rebuilt engines, with grease just painted over, pitted flywheels, and not much in the way of customer service.

I was just going to get some components from there maybe. Not a full rebuild.

check message boards for whatever component you're looking for. I remember looking into them for 2002 parts. Some of the comments are funny - like a former employee offering to drive to anyone's house who orders from them - to personally deliver a bitch slap.

About 12 years ago I tried to purchase an exhaust from them for a rwd Corolla, they sent me the exhaust for a fwd Coolla and then it took me the better part of 6 weeks to get them to acknowledge they didn't have the rwd exhaust anymore.........

What is it they have that you want... maybe some other supplier can assist you

I was looking at some valvetrain stuff for the Spitfire. I was also looking at TS Imported.

here's a link to some regular FOT suppliers Kas Kastner's site (Kastner ran triumph's racing dept in the 1960s). TS is on the list. They also list victoria british - I've had good luck with them, others seem less enthused.

I would suggest Ted, or look a APT too.

I suggest The Roadster Factory or Victoria British, there's always MOSS, both east and west coast. Paeco's heydays were in the 70s and 80s. They even offered sponsorship $ back then. They must be hanging on by a thread at this point.

For performance valves, you might want to call Moss on the West Coast. I've found them to know what they're talking about. And the publisher of this publication might clue you in on performance valves for a Triumph, he does have a bit of experience with them.

Oh I forgot. The owner of BPNW used to race Spitfires. I'm not sure he sells racing stuff now, but I bet he could put you onto something. They have been great to deal with.

OP. I was assuming you were asking on behalf of the Spitfire.

There are a couple Paeco engine re-build horror stories on Saabnet.

YMMV...

No direct experience but there's some PAECO horror tales on the Jensen Healey site, too.

I would diffinitely go with TSI over PAECO.

I've met and purchased stuff from Ted and a couple of local NASS members have engines from him. When I can afford a new engine for my GT6, I'll likely go to him.

Like others, I've read mixed reviews of PAECO. Enough that being 900 miles away I'd be weary. However, you are much closer, so perhaps dealing with them face to face would would net a better experience.

+1 for TS over Paeco. Direct experience with Ted-- good guy. No experience with Paeco, on purpose given what some MG guys have related. Looks like they have covered just about every marque with sh1t.
