Heading out tomorrow to spend the weekend at Palmer with COMSCC. Anyone else gonna be there? I'll be in the blue 83 GTI holding everyone up!

Enjoy it, it's such an awesome track! I haven't run with COM, are they fun? I have sunday open, I might have popped in if registration was still open.
LuxInterior - $350 for the track's open lapping days, which gives you something like 4.5 hours of track time, but they fill up early.
I'm most likely going to be doing a track day there with RUD Motorsports on 9/13. They charge $375 for ~2.5-3ish hours of track time.
So I'm here. Hard to believe there's a track in these hills. I expect a lot of late/ hidden apexes and elevation changes.
Have fun. I've not yet made it down to try it out. Some day soon i hope to get my road race bikes crank swapped out. I'm heading to NY for flat track double header.
I hope you're staying dry tonight, VW!
Here's a few tips that will (hopefully) help you out. I've only done a few hundred laps, so I haven't gotten it all figured out :) My reference for these is my 94 Spec Miata.
Turn 1: Remember you can brake pretty late because you're going uphill quite steeply. You're too far to the left, move all the way over to the right (no, further right than that. Reach out and touch brake marker 3) and do all the turning before the crest. You should Juuuuuusssssttt about graze the last concrete barrier end with your mirror. If you do that, you'll end up going straight over the bump where you end up over on the right to set up for turn 3.
Turn 3: When you see your apex and think you should turn in, count to two THEN turn in. If you do it right, you'll hit the apex area right at that ground-off area which will give you more than enough traction to keep it flat until turn 5 (the sharp up-hill).
Turn 5/6: I go really wide here and late apex to try to keep momentum up at the bottom of the hill, otherwise I lose too much speed and can't get it back in my lower powered car. The corvette guys will hug the turn, scrub speed and then start accelerating up the hill. I've never found that to work in the Miata. 6 is pretty obvious, and with 7 you'll want to go straight over it, you'll be looking down the hill into the carousel.
Turn 8: The fun one! I like to dive straight across towards the worker station, then try to turn in hard in time to catch the inside banking. If you hit it right, you'll shoot out onto the little straight with a ton of speed.
The next few are pretty obvious, but the one that gets me is the 13 to 14 area.. I still haven't come up with something I completely like. From what I can tell, you really need to slow down in 13 to make the turn and then treat the next few turns like an autocross. Don't worry about how slow you're going, slow is fast here.
Thanks for the advice. My low powered Bunny is causing me fits but I'm getting a few of the corners right. Struggling with 10-11-12-13. I'm mishandling 11 which is ruining the next two onto the front straight. The crest between 1 and 2 is intimidating. Just have to keep reminding myself there is track on the other side. Tomorrow more practice then time trials
Glad you are having a good time. Palmer is my favorite local track and COM is who I ran with the most. Ask around for advice, almost everyone will be glad to help. Grat track but tricky to learn and a few spots are a little unnerving. I was hoping to make it this weekend, but family stuff got in the way. Will be going to the Glen with COM next month, if you like Palmer you will love the Glen. Good luck with the TT today.
You'll need to log in to post.
