First things first: I'm stealing the format for this post from Robbie and the kart will be running in exhibition class as it is not a car. Also, I'm a total idiot that doesn't think of himself as a functional member of society. I do understand this and will be generous with pizza, beer, and just about anything else I have access to.

Location: $2018 challenge host hotel (pre-game: Tampa, FL)

Time: Starting Thursday (10/11/2018) morning. (pre-game: like, yesterday)

Car: 2018 Radio Flyer Wagon

Team: Anyone. Everyone. Please.

Contact: PM, pat h callahan @gmail.com (no spaces, obviously) and I'll happily give out my cell number.

The plan:

Take one working Radio Flyer wagon, chop it up and use it as bodywork for one non-working, borderline vintage shifter kart.

The parts:

See this post. I have new brakes and spindles that I will be trying to fit immediately. I also ordered a new steel Radio Flyer wagon because most people want too damn much for used ones. The engine is theoretically good but needs fuel lines and has not been fired.

Today I will be digging into my storage unit to reassess everything and hopefully start making sure parts will fit and coming up with a plan for Thursday. The good news in this regard is that I have the whole week off to do this.

Any advice is appreciated. I've never gone to the Challenge, worked on a dirt bike engine or driven a shifter kart. This is going to be a hell of a week for me.

I will help with this after* the parking lot MR2 is done.

*there is unlikely to be an "after" for the parking lot MR2 cheeky

I'm in the same camp...

Advice: bring stuff for cutting up the wagon and prepping the new panels. Sawzall, dremel, just some hacksaws, maybe tin snips. Sandpaper and matching red spray paint. Usually the parking lot build doesn't involve much fabrication (the GI Joe ghettocet being one obvious exception) so there won't be many fabrication tools around.

Also bring carb cleaner and make sure the chain is in good shape or bring a new one.  I've got experience with crappy shifter karts so I may be most useful at the "it almost runs but doesn't want to start" stage.

I will try to help some as well, in between the mr2.  Looking forward to seeing how this turns out :)

Cool!  Now you’ve got me thinking I should bring down a minibike project I never seem to be able to get started on for parking lot shenanigans.

I have an Oscar-Meyer Weinermobile pedal car in my basement, like this one, and I can't help but think how awesome it would be on a shifter kart chassis

A Radio Flyer shifter cart.  A shifter Weiner cart.  Why am I not going to this?  (Bangs head on wall)
