I'm looking at buying a '64 F600, and it is in need of engine and brake parts. Anyone know a source for this stuff?

Napa with a commercial truck person?

I know the engine is just standard 60's fare with a different trans behind them.

The engine in an F600 may or may not be the same as used in the smaller trucks - they had some weird variants that were used in the big trucks. Also, does it have air brakes or conventional?

It's got a 330 ci FT and hydraulic brakes.

NAPA will likely have it all.

NAPA doesn't even list a 1964 F-600. The truck needs rear wheel cylinders. Anyone know of a source?

Commercial Truck Shop? Local farmer? Honestly I would have to go ask one of the guys I know who has been a farming family for 50+ years they probably have machines that old or know where to get parts for old machines. I know that is not helping, sorry.

When you go to the NAPA website, click on new vehicle and then scroll down to medium/heavy duty trucks before you select the make, model and year. I was able to find F600 brake cylinders listed.

The FT series engines are sort-of the same as FE's but...aren't.

I used to see lots of parts listed for these truck on ebay. They typically are inexpensive because few people bother to keep those on the road. You can also try these guys Green Sales Company as they have lots of OEM Ford parts you can't find anywhere else. It's also possible to have a Ford dealer search other dealer inventories across the country with a Ford part number. I've found a surprising amount of stuff that's NLA still sitting on shelves. The vintage parts book for Ford trucks will have light and medium duty trucks all together, so you can look for one of those (I have one). Lastly, Slick 60s message board can be helpful. We have a few members on there with the bigger trucks who are happy to help.

I've decided to not go for this one, so here's the link to the auction. Notice that he says that he's going to part it out if it doesn't sell. I think this truck is way too cool to let that happen. So how about it Aussie? It's not that far from you! http://www.ebay.com/itm/111321536497?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Someone needs to turn that into a ramp truck.

That was what I was planning on doing. Would make a great hauler for my Mustang. But I can't take on another project right now, and I don't have a place for it indoors to work on it. But it really looks solid, and I'm hoping someone buys it before the guy parts it out.

A guy over on the HAMB board recently picked up a '66 F-600 fire truck with just 5400 miles on it, and he's planning on building it into a ramp truck. Not that it helps you but the pictures of that truck are pretty amazing. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=867779

would be tempting if I needed a truck to drag my boat around. Boat is a 1963, so it would all be vintage looking
