DIdn't Porsche (or some automotive pub) do a track test of a Macan S versus a 944 Turbo, and the Macan annihilated the 944's times?
Hell, we had a Macan S come to rallycross and it won the stock AWD class (granted, driven by a stage rally driver who rallies a 944, of all things).

I'd forgotten about that but, yes, the Macan did crush the 944.
For a further parallel of cars that are 40 years apart; my Datsun is 16 seconds a lap faster than Peter Giddings' 32 Alfa Monza at Buttonwillow.
I remember years back at an HPDE at MSR Houston there was an guy with F150 SVT Lightning... believe he worked for Ford SVT... Anyways that truck was fairly FAST...both in corners and straights. Know he was running slicks, custom suspenson, better brake setup, and more than stock power...
I've tried to keep up with an X5 M at Autobahn when I was there in my Z4 Coupe. So much power, so much (expensive, rapidly wearing out) rubber.
It was hilarious.

Saturday I was instructing at a PCA track day as well as running my Datsun 1200.
The day went well except; the last session of the day when one of my fellow instructors passed and left me in an SUV.........the shame of it all.
OK so it was a 400hp Macan but it still made me laugh; I'm sawing at the wheel like a fiend in my 80whp wonder with it's skinny bias ply Hoosiers and the Macan was totally planted.
On the plus side it inspired me to get the 1500cc motor back in the car, I'm sure the extra 20 hp will let me keep up.
Isn't the Macan just a highchair-and-bib version of an Audi S4?

BMW wasn't allowed to call them MX5s because they'd be infringing on Mazda's brand image

Loved running down much faster cars than the FSP Rabbit at Mid Ohio. A favorite picture a friend Jeff Lowe snapped was an Exige S pointing me by on the straight. At my terminal velocity of 110 that just seemed hilarious to me.

I think Tom Twelve Hundred sounds awesome. Don't change based upon that.

If I were to track one, I'd definitely have a baby seat in the back, and a life-sized doll in a helmet.
