Hi everyone.
I'm running Castrol SRF in my daily driver that is track driven. At the start of the season I had the brakes flushed with SRF. Based on internet research I figured I'd use SRF through the summer/track season, leave it in during winter, and flush it again next spring. (assuming nothing boils....which I doubt it will).
However I've had multiple people tell me track fluids like SRF are thicker and are no bueno for winter use.
Don't all Dot 3/4/5.1 fluids follow the same viscosity curve for the specification? Or am I just imagining this.
No some DOT4/5.1 fluids do have a higher viscosity, and that can be an issue not only for winter use but also for ABS operation. I'll look at the viscosity on SRF and see if that's an issue...
Edit: SRF's viscosity numbers look pretty normal, so nothing to worry about. Some fluids have an LV marking for low viscosity.
