The car that I just bought has an older Personal Fittipaldi steering wheel in it. I remember seeing "Personal" decals on cars as far back as the mid 80's, but I was always more of a Momo fan, so I never really paid much attention to them.
Anyway, while I don't love the look, the wheel feels great. It also appears to have a limited edition number engraved in it, so I wanted to learn more about it. I can find places that sell Personal wheels, but I can't find a website for the company itself.
Does anybody know anything about them? Are they still in business. I think they're from Italy.
Personal is made by Nardi of Italy, which also has its own line of steering wheels. Their ads are in GRM. I can't find a website and I don't have a magazine handy (at work), so I can't help you any further.
Grazie mille.

Yep, a Nardi line. I worked for a Nardi, Personal and Momo dealer after college graduation. I always liked their Fittipaldi wheel.
Mine must be an early one, as it has the autograph in a small plastic helmet above the number, rather than the engraved "Fittipaldi" like all the new ones I've found online.

Yeah, I believe that's an early one. The one we sold in the early '90s didn't have the helmet, either.

Wow, I guess it's been on the car for a long time then. The leather's pretty dried out but I think that I may be able to salvage it. I like this wheel a little more each day.
I'll have to get a photo of it.

I had one on my first Jetta. Love that wheel.
I finally got around to taking a photo of the wheel.
That looks very similar to my Dino wheel purchased in the early 90's that I have for my 924s. I really liked the thickness of the grip but I ended up removing it as the diameter was smaller that the stock one and blocked several of the critical gauges. I went back to the stock 4 spoke P car one. I just wish its grip was a bit thicker on it.
