I don't need to bother with looking at pictures, I can just read your plate in person in the 'W Parking Lot'.

ive done it since forever...years ago, early days of the internet, and before car forums were popular, i got pulled over - cop said i was drag racing and not wearing my seatbelt (i was belted in, and my lil old 230 cube I6 camaro wasnt racing anybody - but it was clear this cop had it in for me). i kept polite (though visibly astonished at what the cop was giving me tickets for), and called the precinct afterwards to file a complaint and whatever else i could do via phone.

The 2 i spoke to on the phone (both were some kinda higherups) were super helpful, and the 2nd was even a bit of a car guy, and knew of my car from seeing it around (i drove everywhere, she was my daily driver). So apparently, i had a ton of complaints against me - people (or someone) had called in my plate # saying i did this or that (none of it true). To boot, there was a similar looking 69 firebird in the area, with a v8, that was known to rip it up at night. red paint and AR daisy rims, just like my maro. cop told me they cant do anything about the phone complaints, but it does get kept on record, and so when a cop car pulls me over, theyre thinking ive done all this stuff but have no tickets - and theyre gonna wanna nail me for whatever they can.

when internet car forums started getting hugely popular and common, i saw some people blurring their plates (usually in burnout pictures and other hoonigan stuff), and figured it made sense to do it all the time, no matter if the car/me are doing nothing illegal/nearly illegal in the pics. Look at how stupid-angry people get in car forums - i wouldnt be surprised if they used whatever info they could get on you to make your life miserable, especially if you just corrected them on a web forum about something.....it may be slight paranoia, but it only takes me a few seconds to wipe out my plate b4 posting a pic, so i try to do it all the time (pretty sure once in a while, if its a cool smaller forum where i know all the regs and consider them friends, i let a pic or 2 slide by w/o editing).

also, or alternatively, you can keep a cool set of show plates (like what they put on cars at the big car shows, where it just has the maker's logo on it) and glue some magnets to em, and then anytime you take a pic, get them outta the trunk and stick em on. makes it look like a press/brochure photo =)
