With the flat black paint still drying, we ran the SCCA/V8 StockCar event at Daytona last weekend. The LS1 powered former Monte Carlo cut a fast 1:58.1 in qualifying and was running about 5th overall until the last lap when she apparently vapor locked in the 100 degree heat.
My partner's son Bobby Kennedy was wheeling her. Sunday we lost the differential (true trac) in qualifying for race 2 and called it a weekend. But the car handled great and hit 180 plus in the tri-oval.
The car has a Schwanke Racing Engines carbureted LS1, Jerico 4 speed and quick change rear end. Penske shocks and coilovers and 6 piston Nascar Wilwood brakes up front. She weighs less than 2500# minus driver.
Kinda lookin' like something out of Mad Max at the moment will get a different look later.
