I "bought" three Porsche 928's. (Not S's). All 3 are supposedly 1981 automatics. I have all 3 titles.

This is what they look like:

Obviously parts for sale in Classifieds, and also I am trying to turn the headless motor into a coffee table. Any other ideas?

WTH is the green shock?

So did I, but there's 3 engines, 3 transmissions, 3 sets of rear axles, and 3 titles. so go figure.

Porsche greens are usually Bilstein.

Why did you buy them...and please tell me they were SUPER cheap.

Cause I bought the J20 you see in the background (for cheap) and was told the Porsche's were FREE if I got them out of there. Owner wants to pave the storage area.

Besides, my cylinder count is now 79!

  • AMC Javelin 360 = 8
  • Mazda 5 = 4
  • Pontiac Grand Prix = 6
  • Porsche 944 = 4
  • AMC 401 x3 = 24
  • Jeep J20 = 8
  • Porsche 928 x3 = 24
  • Go-Kart = 1

I have a 928 table. It was a fun weekend project. If I may suggest, Don't try and polish it or any thing, just keep it simple and white lighting or simple green it (I used a steam p-washer too). Then a $4 can of paint. I posted one picture here on GRM so you can search my name. Also shop around for glass. I got a wide range of prices. It cost me about $80 for the glass in the end. It is a great table and I would have never thought of it, but you get some great storage to. The valley in the center holds all the remotes well and you still can use the 8 cylinders. There are two things that suck, first they did not round the corners on the glass like I asked (but was to excited to bitch) and the glass wants to move around a lot. I have tried all kinds of little rubbers and nothing holds up. I will keep trying. Also buy some thick heavy glass, people will put their feet on it!

edit: I just looked at your pictures again and had a flashback. I saw the head studs the room started spinning. This may truly be a weekend project Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Have fun and remember heat and PB Blaster!

Sorry about the cell pic. I spent a lot of time thinking about how two make this table work and I am really happy with how it turned out. I wanted to keep it as simple as possible and use what was there. I did not want to stick a bunch of stuff on to it, to make it a table. I was thinking "its been a table all along it just was not put together right". I wanted it to look like a hot rod motor that does not look like it has enough parts to run.

A word of warning, do not store your whiskey in it. Sometimes you need to get up and walk to the liquor cabinet. You may just find going to bed sounds better than another drink.

Locost project?

Also, that first pic of the white one made me think you bought it, still wrapped around a tree.

I've fixed worse, but it takes a firm commitment to financial irresponsibility to finish these projects.

I am waiting for the new 3D sintered metal printers to come down in price a bit so I can just start printing cars on top of the oil spots.

Awesome.

Looks like enough to build two Locosts, I approve this purchase.

Honestly it is not that bad. The weight of the glass and table give it a solid feel when/if you put your feet up on it. I built it for the basement so I put little casters on it that work like the track ball in an old mouse (worked on concrete). But It turned out so nice the wife insisted V8 table go in the den! I married well. On hardwoods just pull off the glass and move the base. Then put he glass back on.
