Pinstripes on wheels??

I'll start by saying I am not a fan of black wheels. The wheels disappear in the tires. But I am a cheapskate and these wheels were only $90. So what do you think.....pinstripe them, or leave them alone? Or maybe a different colour stripe? FWIW, they'll be going on a gray MINI.m

Black wheels need something to stop them from looking like giant pumpernickel bagels under the car.

I prefer a polished lip, but that pinstripe seems to do the job.  I vote yea.

From a guy who disliked his black wheels so much... he bought gold ones.   I tried a pin-stripe befoe the swap and it helped some, but didn't hold up the way i did it.

Anyone use the Beugler Pinstriping tool ?

I looked at those, but it's too pricey for a one-time cheapo project. A roll of tape is four bucks. Nice tool if you have the need though.

I think the red pinstripe looks good. maybe fill the entire gap in red instead of just a narrow stripe?

That's 1/8th tape, but 3/16s and 1/4 is available in-store at Autozone.

Red will look great against gray

I bought one over 30 years ago- far too fussy to use.   I feel like a good brush and some One Shot enamel is less work overall.  I don't even know where it is at this point.

I'm all about the red stripe, BTW.    As seen on Shifty (behind Slushie) the entire wheel/tire combo would just be a big black blob without the stripe.

Back in the day I painted a set of VW tarantulas black then put them on the shop balancer and used a paint marker to add a red stripe similar to what you did. I will always like that look.

GRM version: jack up the car and put the wheel to be striped on a drive wheel. Idle in first gear, voila.

I have actually done this to polish wheel lips.

I hate pinstripes on wheels - leave it black.  

Blue, blue stripes, and calipers.

Instead of a pinstripe, make it an animation.  (Edit: pic is supposed to be gif)

I like the look, but maybe not the red.  Keep it in the same color family of something on or in the car... OR... go completely off the reservation.  For instance, if the interior is grey or black, (don't laugh) try lavender or pink.  If the interior or some other aspect (like the roof or if it has a flag on top) do blue or a deeper red, like wine.

Black with red screams a mullet from 1986 to me.  Black with yellow screams 1992 wishing Miami Vice were still on TV.  Black with lavender says sophistication.  Black with pink says you have excellent taste.  Black with blue won't be in vogue for a few more years.

I know that sounds like a load of BS, but I do work adjacent to the fashion industry.
