Pretty sure I know the answer but I want to confirm here.

The Boxster (2001, 2.7) has developed a misfire and I’m attacking it with new plugs and coils.

I can get platinum NGKs for less than copper plugs and they’re newer tech. I’ve heard rumors of these causing issues but I’m not sure that makes sense to me.

Any reason I should stick with copper?

Thanks all

Not if you are using NGKs.  I'm pretty sure Bosch still can't make a spark plug...

The big differince is lifetime. Also, to be pedantic there arent copper plugs, nor have there been for decades. The 'copper' is in the core, the electrode tips are nickel. Some claim the old style are better, some people also still index and file the ground strap.

Iirc it goes Nickel<platinum<iridium<ruthenium.

I have never, never ever, seen a perceptible difference between 2 properly gapped, identical range plugs, no matter the electrode type. I welcome anyone who has, to enlighten me. Perhaps FI cars are different.

The only clear distinction between brands is usually the quality of the threads and case metalurgy imho.
