A SuperChip ECU computer chip costs about $250, I've only had one before and I can almost justify the money. These guys are selling quickie performance enhancement for $39.95 or so.

Thoughts, experiences?

Once you make the obliguitory performance enhancement joke, add something with meat to it will ya?

You know, something you can sink your teeth into.

Thanx, Dan

All it does is change the intake air temperature reading. If you just want to screw up the mapping a little replacing the IAT sensor with a resistor would probably yield similar results. And no, there is no performance gain to be had there. Certainly not 50 hp lolz

Looks like it is just going to be a pot to adjust some signal (MAF maybe?)

I know on eBay one can often purchase cheap copies of "big name" chips (big name being Comforti, Dinan, and MarkD) that someone just used a chip burner to copy. At least for older ECUs anyway.

I would want to know what is "adjusting" to get the kind if performance. +50 HP more than most chips give you. Also why the 2dr? is that the car or the name of the gizmo?

"Gain up to 50bhp" for $39.95.

That should tell you all that you'd need to know.

Sssssssnake oil.

a chip makes a huge difference in an e30 325e. not 50hp huge though. anything newer than that, no way.

I have an actual Superchips tuner (the handheld box) and didn't pick up 50BHP. Snake oil.

You can buy resistors at Radio Shack for a couple bucks that will do the same thing.

General rule: Any "performance chip" that splices into the wiring harness is two lies for the price of one.

Is this a legit company? Thought about looking it up for my cherokee xj and saw they have listed for the cj2 and cj3. Not really sure where the computer would be installed in a cj3, but must be aftermarket

"JEEP CJ3 CHIPS CJ3 custom performance chips will upgrade your ride without requiring that you spend all afternoon in the garage tinkering with the CJ3 ECU chip. When ordering a new CJ3 performance chip price and time aren't factors to consider because our custom CJ3 power chips take little time to install and are priced to a point that any tuner can afford to make this awesome upgrade. To put it simply CJ3 chips are an amazing value that your fellow tuners won't believe you purchased for the price we offer right here at our online performance shop."

I don't know what specific model/year you have, but Mark D'Sylva has a very good reputation in the BMW world for his replacement chips. http://www.dsylva-tech.ca/
