So, the Miata needs new tires. I'm broke and trying to figure out the cheapest way to do this. I have a second set that I'm keeping in reserve to put DOT-R's on, when I have the money again. Right now, I just want tires to commute and cruise in since the Miata uses half the gas my van does.

I have a set of 15x6.5 Rotas for my street tires. My most likely options are:

Sell the wheels for $250-$200 on CL, buy another set of similar wheels with tires in decent condition for $300.

Trade them to a local buddy with a Miata who has a set of 14" wheels (not stock, but decent alloy) with some mediocre all season tires on them.

Same buddy also has a set of 225/15's for a Miata that I could have for super cheap, and that could probably be made to fit onto my 15x6.5's, or maybe just put them on my 15x7's that I'd been saving for DOT-R's later.

My dad has a set of ricer 17's that came on the Miata he purchased recently. I could make use of them as much as I want in exchange for helping him fix up his Miata (which I planned to do anyway). I suspect they will ride like crap.

Use dads wheels and tires and save your pennies. Free tires that ride like crap are better than crappy tires you pay for.

What Toyman01 says.
Second choice would be to get the 225/15's for super cheap.
