I wish someone made a removable hardtop for a early 911
There are a lot of Targas out there with the roll bar cut off ......

I think there was actually a Porsche-approved way of doing that in 1982, right up until they started doing it themselves in in 1983.
Minor confession: Air cooled 911 cabriolets are ugly and stupid. You're missing the point.
Targas are a much, much better choice.

I wish I could have learned to love Targas when I was in a position to buy an air-cooled 911. I had already been priced out of the Coupes. But I just couldn't do it . . .

Several/many years ago, the 911 used in “Friends” (yes, the TV show) turned up for sale. Had all the paperwork, etc. Price was very fair. I want to say about $14k, but don’t quote me.
But it was a Targa.
I have no aversion to Targa's. I once had a Chevy Chase/Christie Brinkley "Vacation" experience with a beautiful woman driving a Targa in Las Vegas. Her hair was flowing in the breeze, she saw me looking at her and the car, gave me a smile and a little wave, downshifted and took off down I-15 with that signature flat-6 wail.
That moment has stayed with me ever since when I think of Targa 911's.
The only problem was that I was a kid riding shotgun in my sister's '72 Super Beetle.
FML.
I have no ill will at all to the Targas and think they can look mean once set up. Somewhere I have a photo of a Turbo-look Targa that just looked cool. All about the stance, right?

I won't cast stones. I once turned down an opportunity to invest in a company that was "trying to figure out how to use your cell phone to access the Internet" (circa 1994 ish). I distinctly remembering "why would ANYONE want to do that . . ."
You can bet that had I had foresight, and the wealth that would have acoompanied it, would result in my owning all the G body coupes I could ever want.

I worked for one of those companies. You probably would have been wiped out in 2000 or 2001 :)

Yeah! I'll go with that. The company founders seemed to weather that storm though . . . but they are clearly smarter than I am in that area.

I didn't even get enough out of my companies to buy a Playmobil 911, never mind a full size one. I've had to resort to working for a living.
There were alot of Pre 1973 Targas that were "updated" to 1980s slant nose cabrios,
Miami Vise was hot and everyone wanted to look cool
