There's a '72 Bavaria sedan near me. It needs a driver's door. What are the chances of finding one at a reasonable price?

There's a '74 coupe nearby, model unknown but I assume it's a E9. CL posting claims "SD" model. WTH is that? Was there a diesel in '74?
How stupid cheap would these have to be for me to drive an hour and take a look?
I don't recognize the SD moniker. They didn't have any diesels. As far as price, I know of a couple Bavarias that were free...
The big thing is rust, rust, rust. They can rust in places you can't imagine, so make sure the car is in good shape before you buy.

Bavs are a little rare on the ground, but they're out there - might take a little digging but you'll find a door if you need one.
I think that SD model BMW is probably a Benz...which did make an SD model. The ad was kinda weird. As for the Bav (saw that ad too), I think the biggest worry is rust. Like everywhere. GRM did a buyers guide for the Bav several years ago.

I have delusions of Hans Stuck.
The E9's can be very beautiful cars, I'd love one.
E9's can look absolutely gorgeous yet have SERIOUS rust hiding out at the same time. Do your research, and shop carefully. I'd expect E3's to be very similar. Anything selling for less than five figures will undoubtedly look like swiss cheese behind the front fenders...
