I run 2 autocross groups, and I'm in 2 different classes according to their respective bodies.
Last year I ran STU with moderate success. Since my car has gone more toward 'track only', I am now ineligible. I say I am in SM according to all 400 pages of the SCCA rulebook, but one of the groups says I should be in BSP.
Look, I'd love to run BSP with my car, but I know I'm going to get dirty looks and protests if I do. The car is gutted and has a 4 point cage, which by all accounts I can find is not BSP allowed.
Am I right? If I had full interior and no cage, I would definitely fit under BSP rules, but again- I don't think that's legal. Clarification would be appreciated.
Gutted = XP, not street mod
Sorry to break it to you
If there interior is there, isnt there some verbage about allowing cages for showroom stock racers or something?
You are absolutely right, crap... I misunderstood 'removal of rear seat permitted' to = removal of everything...
Thank you!

I believe ITA/ITB prepped cars actually allowed to compete in the equivalent SP class... but they're typically very under-tired.
Or maybe that was a local thing.

The car may be legal for street prepared with a stripped interior provided it is built towards a specific GCR class. For example, most IT, AS and T cars (stripped interiors) are eligible for SP. The tricky part is you can't pick and chose which mods you want to do. The car can either be built to GCR or SP rules, but not a combination of both. See page 91 of the current Solo rules.
Well, the car isn't legal for T-2 due to engine mods, and it's not legal for SP due to interior mods... so that's out the door, haha.
Looks like I may be getting handled in XP this year then. That's not gonna be too fun.

I would hope so ... I've a 4 pt roll bar in my CRX and it's legal in STS .. so would certainly be legal in SP .
but yeah ... you gotta have an interior for SP, SM, S, and ST ... gotta go to Prepared or Modified ... except for the race classed cars that have a direct classing into a a-x class... not sure now, but at one time spec miata ( meeting all SM requirements) would class as a DSP ... there are some other spec and maybe IT classes that do the same
