I have recently purchased a formula vee frame. I've been in the search for a car to autox that I wouldn't have to worry about driving to work or school the next day. I decided to look for a formula fee since 80% of my automotive experience is with ACVWs. Having a shed filled with 10+ engines, a few trans axles and beams made it seem like a logical step.
My main question would be what to set it up as. I plan on autocrossing the car so it would seem solo vee would be the direction to go. Would there be any benefit to going FST or FV? I have the parts to build it to any set of rules (i.e. link pin and ball joint beams, 40hp and 1600 dp engines). The only thing I'm not sure of is if my swing transaxles are long or short boxes.
In the future I could see myself wanting to race the car on a track, but that's a far way off. Should that influence how I prep the car now?
Also does anybody know what exactly I have?

If you're not going to track it in the near future, I would prep it how you want it for autocross, especially if you can do so without making a lot of permanent modifications to the frame. There really isn't much to these cars (at least, there isn't much to Formula 500's), and once you've built it from the ground up, I'd wager you could tear it apart and re-prep it for track use in next to no time.

Very informative, and they carry just about everything you might need in addition to several donor cars that you already have.
Also, you're not close by, but Noble Racing is run by an acquaintance of mine, and their stuff is the shiz.
I think a Solo Vee could be fun but if you actually want to race it on the track, I'd prepare it as an authentic FV so you can run with other FVs. You can't use a car like this for a track day unless they have a big bunch of formula cars that run by themselves, as you don't want to be out there with huge cars like Miatas.
