Finally got the EBC Yellowstuff pads I ordered. This is the front pad compared to an old used one.
This is model DP4453R, I've checked six ways from Sunday and everything says they should fit this car, but how could they fit when they're so different from the stock pads? It looks like there's no freaking way.
Worse yet, it would be far easier and cheaper for me to mod these pads to fit than to return them.
No way, no how. Don't even try to tweak anything. It won't work. Wrong pad=no brakes. Sooner or later.
Aw crap do I have special JDM brakes or something? Here's a front brake pad schematic I found on RockAuto:
Looks like the EBC pad and not the ones that came off the car!
Edit: The rear EBC pads have this shape:
I can confirm if they're the same as the ones on the car tomorrow.
OK some good news. These look like the ones I was comparing to, which are from a 4AF(E) front solid disc/rear drum setup. Maybe the GTS all-disc setup matches what I got and these pads aren't the same, again I can confirm tomorrow.
Its always possible the manufacturer has it wrong. Take the TR8 for instance. Half of the time the brake pad manufacturer lists the TR7 pads the same as TR8s. They are not the same. Others list the 240Z pad as compatible with the TR8 caliper. They also are not compatible, but at least I know why they made that mistake. Back in the day when you would actually see a TR8 at an SCCA event, the common thing to do was swap out the TR8 calipers with calipers from a Ford Capri. They looked the same. They bolted up the same. The only difference was the pad they used was the same as the 240Z. TR8 pads cost 3 times as much as 240Z pads because they were a unique shape and there wasn't as much demand for them.
False alarm, I confirmed everything matches up. The brakes I was comparing these to came off the old braking system which uses different pads.
Here you can see the current front pads:
If you knew what it took to get these pads you'd understand why I'd freak out easily.
I'm sure that to get most things delivered to the Islands isn't easy. But if it was, everyone would live there.

I'll see how they look after I drive the car, I used to get rust buildup like that from not driving the car for as little as a week.
