I seem to recall that a common V8 (SBC perhaps?) would gain some hp if you change the firing order. I can't recall the brand or the engine model.

Can anyone unfog my fogginess?

Some say the 302 ford will gain from 351w cam and fire order. I've done it but it was by parts guys mistake and was full rebuild so can't tell you if it did or not. 44

The 302 itself has two factory firing orders, so be careful.

And yes, there is a popular firing order swap for the Gen 1 SBC (3/7 IIRC?), obviously you have to change the camshaft.

SBC 4 / 7 swap.

The Chevy swap is good to avoid a scavenge of air on two adjacent cylinders that happens. Works good on NA or N2O builds. Boost really doesn't matter.

The Ford 302 swap was done to lessen the load on the front main webs since 1 and 5 fire one right after another.
