BMW even included a plug kit with the bikes that run tubeless tires, at least in Europe.

I've used them for 30 years too, never had a problem with them, they generally last the life of the tire. The real pain is that I usually get the screw or whatever makes the puncture in the tire when it is only a couple of months old. I too have autocrossed on tires with plugs with zero problems, I believe the hype of them being unsafe is bunk dreamed up by the tire companys. Seriously you are basically replacing a tiny amount of rubber with more rubber, not like you are hurting the structural integrety of the tire........ Also for those worried about moisture in the tire, rest assured that when you add air in the summer you are likely putting more moisture into the tire then the amount that will get in though the plug.

Well I plugged the tire tonight without any drama. No leaks so far. Drove the car around a little get some heat into it and work it around, now I'll park the car for a couple days and keep checking the tire pressure.

Looks like the Miata is playing the daily driver role this week.
