I've had to cobble a new intake for my AW11 MR2, and I was trying to use the stock filter to not spend any money- but it turns out the thing is absolutely massive and it would be simpler and cheaper to shove a pod filter onto the end of the MAF instead of buying the supplies to weld ABS plastic. Do ya'll have any recommendations for decent, cheap ones? The inlet it has to fit onto is about 2 3/4" in size, if I remember right.

I'm a fan of foam Unifilters, especially the dual stage ones. Cheap, once oiled resists water, less likely to pass oil droplets compared to wet K&N IMO since foam oil really becomes tacky and isn't "wet", won't fall apart with water like paper based one. Here's the application list, they do 2 lengths for that inlet, as well as a straight and 15* fitment. I have one on my Celica on an intake tube, 2 or 3 on my motos and big one on my ITB'd Seven.

Appropriate sized K&N cone, lightly oiled.

+1 for Uni. They are widely used in the Side By Side and dirt bike market, so if they're good enough for those conditions they're good enough for a car. And far cheaper than K&N, less likely to foul up MAF sensors.
