Im thinking of buying some new seats for my 1989 240sx. When i got the rolling chassis, It had one front seat and a back bench. Now it has none. I have two front seats going in. I got them for $150 and I think I over payed. The drivers seat felt a little loose and after further investigation, it had a broken weld from what appeared to be a driver side collision. Needless to say, in my infinite wisdom, I welded it back together without taking all the padding/covers off. It has a few burn holes, but no one will see it, ill be sitting in it.

Im not too sure how well the seat will hold up and if it breaks it will be time to buy two new seats. What has the GRM crowd had good luck with. I'm not looking to spend a substantial amount of money and the seats do not need to fold forward. Its a two-seater now. I saw some low priced seats in the Jegs catalog.

Suggestions?

I bought S14 seats that are a huge improvement over the stockers. I paid $150 for them, and they go for $100-400 depending on condition.

I'm just getting into the whole fixed racing seat realm so I'm not much help, but sit in it before you buy it and if you like it buy it. Don't get caught up with brands/hype just get whats most comfortable. I almost bought a racetech seat for $650 last summer. It was so comfortable I took a nap in the one at the shop I was working at, if thats any indication...

As long as you were working there. Cant imagine the shop steward would be happy with a vagrant stumbling in drunk for a nap in the comfy racing seat.

So you dropped an RB20 in a rusty S13 too?! We can have a club!

Yeah I was working there. I guarantee my friends that own the shop have done the same, so no biggie. Also I believe it was one of the hotter days of the summer...

Yeah my last hatch I had an RB20 in for a while. Totaled about 3K miles and had a blown headgasket at 2200 then bent valves 900 miles later, because the tensioner lock washer lost tension etc etc. I sold it recently now I'm about to put a VQ30DE+T in a different less rusty hatch. And a cage to follow soon after.
