A friend of mine has a 2003 Porsche Boxster with very low miles that doesn't get driven a lot. The other day he went to the gas station to fill it up and after putting the nozzle in and pulling the lever gas started to gush out of the hole around the nozzle. He removed the nozzle and tried again but the same problem. Off hand it would sound like a venting problem but I don't even know if there is a vent. Anyone ever have this problem and if so what is the fix. Thanks!

Tank already full? Gas gauge stuck? Spiders in the fill neck? No? Next stop is to find the charcoal/evap canister and disconnect the vent hose and see what happens. Use a jerry can to fill it while the car is off...because codes.

I understand there is a tank vent valve that can fail to operate. This affects Boxsters and 911s. The little flapper in the filler tube operates a switch that should cause the vent valve to open, to allow refueling. There is discussion of this issue on the PCA.org web site. (The tech portion of the site may only be accessible by PCA members.)
