Hey guys,
Does anyone have a nearly stock early Boxster that is in driving distance from Barber Motorsports park(Birmingham AL)? I have a very interesting story idea and need to borrow you and your car for a day. The date would be Tuesday May 22nd, and if you have the time and interest, I am willing to bet you would remember this day for the rest of your life.
Sounds like reason enough to go buy one!!

Have you tried over on Pelicanparts.com or rennlist?
If you need a 76 911 Targa though, I'm your guy...

Team player that I am, I volunteered to buy a Boxster for this story. Unbelievably, Margie shot me down on this idea.
And yes, I thought of those boards, but I always try to give our people the perks first, before I offer them to strangers.

With the thought of a future Subie-power swap, I wish you could convince her!
Have Tom buy one. He needs something other than his E30 and his Trooper.
I got one.Its a 2002 I bought for Challenge budget price and I'm willing to travel.I live in the St Augustine area, but would make the drive to the Barber Motorsports park for GRM,I just have to be back to help some other GRM's out at the race at Daytona on the 28th.![Photobucket](http://i580.photobucket.com/albums/ss247/speedbiu/po.jpg)
Shared with my SCCA buddies on FB, etc.
Yep,The guy thought it had a blown motor,I tried to help him and tell him the problem. It was just the AOS.He looked at me and said" I know its blown OK"So I got it for challenge money fixed it for about 105 bucks did a few other things to it(front tires, oil cap and top relay) and now driving it every day.
Jeepers, take Speedbiu with you, Tim!

A friend of mine just picked up a used Boxter last year as a first time Porsche owner. He took it to a Porsche dealer for a routine "tune up". They didn't do a whole lot to it but handed him a bill for $1700.
Welcome to Porsche ownership. :-)
In reply to TR8owner:
This is why older Boxsters are dirt cheap.
In reply to Derick Freese:
Yeah, I understand they're not the simplest cars for the DIY mechanic. That's one thing I liked about my old 356's was that they were VW bug simple.

Holy E36 M3. Tim, when you get back to this thread, speedbiu may be your guy.
In reply to TR8owner:
They don't seem terribly hard to DIY if you know what you're doing and work smartly. I was a second pair of hands in the fixing of speedbiu's Boxster. Everything seemed like a pain, until I started thinking like an engineer. With a lift, these are totally DIY.
Speedbiu please contact me at 386 239 0523 or via email. Tim@grassrootsmotorsports.com
thanks
There are at least 101 things that you can DIY.

In reply to Woody:
Note the pair on the lifts. From my brief experience, if you have a lift, and lifts becoming increasingly common in home garages, these are easy enough to work on that I can see them becoming a major performance bargain over the next few years. You can readily find an example that needs minor work for under $10,000, and you can get an extremely nice one for somewhere in the mid-teens. For the kind of package they've put together, they seem like a good value, provided you're not using a Porsche dealership for all of your work.
