Spend the bare minimum on it, and just enjoy it as it is. That's what I would do!

That is a mad deal.... Congrats on knowing what was going on with the car and again for trying to be honest with the seller...

I think we are at the front edge of lots of really cheap Boxsters becoming available. They are hitting the sub $10k price where people can finance a really cool car but not afford to fix it. In 3 months two blown motor examples have popped up for less than $4k asking price within 300 miles of me.

Totally. And once the kits are more widely available for the WRX motor swap I picture the price on blown motor examples going up a bit.

The problem with the LSx swap is the engine compartment is very small, especially in height. I have no personal experience with this but my understanding from secondhand information is that swaps in these cars have to be very compact vertically. There isn't even a hood! All engine access is from underneath or additionally from behind the seats in the early cars.

Josh,The guy in Jax that had the one with the blown motor still has it.He is pondering fixing it I think I still have his # but not poss.I spoke with him about it and he was on the fence about it.If the motor lets go it usually the IMS I think but most times the engine starts smoking and people assume it gone but its a cheap fix.

I had an 01 S but I just never really liked it. Mine was tip so that may have been part of my problem, but my wife wanted to drive it too.

It was best as a weekend car although I see the aftermarket has really come alive since 05 or so when I got rid of it.
