on the falcon (and several other cars back in the day), no post = lower roofline and sleeker c-pillar. so it's better for the environment, mmmkay?

No Post. I've been ogling this '65 Galaxie on CLs. It's only $1795 obo. My driveway/garage/front lawn cannot contain anymore vehicles.
That is my favorite Falcon body style. I'd take either. Granted, no post looks better but depends on availability. Post is probably more available.

the sleeker aero is offset by a few hundred more pounds of mass to stiffen up the structure from the missing support in the middle of the roof..

All made irrelevant by the wind buffeting off that post making you deaf.
Hardtop looks cooler.
I like the post for function.
Frankly, I'll take what comes along. they're not making old Falcons anymore.

Surely (yes, I said it) this is an exaggeration. A few pounds maybe, but a few hundred? Seems unreasonable*
*I won't pretend that just because it seems unreasonable to me, it must be false.
I had one each of those Falcons. Never had any problems with leaks on the hardtop but it was only 5 years old at the time. I much preferred the hardtop just for the looks.
