I go gaga over the Mercedes Silver Arrow Grand Prix racers from the 30s. Don't know how this one lost its hood, but it makes the picture more interesting:

Ever since I read about that car I've wanted to build a 12 valve powered front engine open wheel car. Easily the dumbest crazy pipe dream I've had.
