Looking tonight in southside VA it's about $0.55 to $0.60 more per gallon for premium than regular.
i think part of the rise in premium gas prices is due to the engines being build by the car companies. Back in the early 2000's there weren't many cars that required 93 and those could run on 87 with the engines ECU adjusting to the fuel used. Today with so many engine being DI and having higher C:R's there are just more cars on the road that can make use of 93. My Ford PU has the 3.5L Ecoboost with a 10:1 C:R. I run it on 87 but I know that it runs better on 93.
My Audi's with the turbo charged 2L DI motors run significantly better and get 2-4 mpg better fuel economy on non-ethanol, so the 20¢/gal extra more than comes back to me - I think.......
What I've noticed locally is that 87 fluctuates a lot while 92/93 is always $4.25.
Well, 4.259, which is 4.26, which is the number of the beast.

Hey I'm Southside too. 60-80 cents over regular seems to be the going rate.

Around here it depends on the station. Some stations adjust all of their prices in sync and keep the spread the same, others will adjust the 87 and sometimes 89 price more often as they get more deliveries of 87 and they don't worry about keeping the spread the same.
