I have my miata in overall good running condition and have a MSpnp that I purchased. Just got my wideband and iat sensor in the mail and am ready to start changing the car over. From those that have done the process before would you recommend first getting the car running with the afm in place and then integrate the other features such as the wideband and ditching the afm, or just going all out. I would prefer to keep the car drivable and can't afford a great deal of downtime.

Specific issues

Any pointers on routing the thick freaking cable that the Innovative LC1 has. Any negatives to getting rid of the air tube that runs all the way around the engine? I'm thinking of keeping the main section that runs off of the throttle body and ditching the part between that tube and the afm. Are the ignition tables that are part of the MSpnp package good or do they leave a lot on the table?

I would install the wideband before anything else. That way you can get an idea of what your stock ECU runs (AFR's) at various loads/rpms before you even swictch over.

I routed my LC1 through the speedo cable grommet (cut a hole). Lots of guys run theirs through the shifter hole.

I would advise prewiring the LC1 as much as possible out of the car. Meaning, connect the gauge ground to LC1 ground to heater ground to one large ground wire. Prewire switch and LED hot/grounds, etc. Saves a bunch of wiring on your back under the dash.

I found the MSPNP maps to be a good starting point. I currently use a Spark map from miataturbo.net. It's a "Hybrid" of the MSPNP and one guys dyno tuned map. Just to be safe I subtracted 2 degrees everywhere, but I'm turbo. If you are NA, I wouldn't worry about that.

There is so little downtime with the MSPNP in the first place, I would just ditch the AFM off the bat. You can always put it back pretty quickly if it doesn't start for any reason. That way you aren't reloading firmware, etc.
