I've pretty much got the NB how I want it, and I really do love the car.

But...

Pre '19 Club models are in the low 20s.

Yeah, I'd really want the new 180 caballo model, too, but, with a tune and an exhaust ND1s are within spitting distance of (stock) ND2s?

At an $8-10k discount?

Do I need to go drive an ND1?

Yes. I loved every minute of my test drive.

I have a rule now that I'm older and hopefully a bit wiser..... If there is a car you are very interested in, do not drive it.  If you drive it, you will buy it.  This is how I keep myself from driving NDs.

In reply to AnthonyGS :

A couple years ago, sat in one at an auto show.  Felt very familiar, I felt at home in that car.

Last year my curiosity was piqued when the ND2 came out.

Then a week or so ago I wandered through the ND section on Miata.net...

Then a couple days ago while searching Craigslist for "Miata parts" thought I'd switch forums to see what cars were on there and...

I'm really afraid I'll like it a lot.

Anybody have a tune and exhaust on one, does it wake up the top end a bit?

Not like the NB is a speed machine, but between the exhaust, intake cam, and timing wheel, the car feels a lot more pleasant to run through the gears now.

I think I'll go drive an ND1 soon...

I really should get an old pick-up or something....

It would have to be much cheaper than that for me to consider over an ND2 Sport.

Of course, that depends on what you plan to do with the car.

I wants the LSD comes with the club.  Street/auto-x.

ND2 Sport and drop an LSD in to it I guess is a possibility, especially since I'd change out the suspension anyway,  but I wouldn't be doing the diff swap myself.  I could,  I guess.

But tune/exh/ suspension is "easy" and even with a new Sport I'm doing exh/suspension.

Either way, I'm ahead  around 8 grand.

Have to drive both I guess.

I do worry that I might neglect the NB, though, if I do that, and that would be horrible, since I love my little orange bomb.

The factory LSD, already in a case, is pretty cheap.

Hell buy a used a '19 Sport unless you want the BOSE. The most basic search just pulled up a '19 Grand Touring with 1k miles for $25k. An ND1 in the 20s doesn't seem like a great value.

I've driven a lot of Miatai over the past 7 years.  The ND is truly impressive (the one I drove was in STR lite prep) and I was able to jump in it and have the fastest street tire time of the day.  But they are really tight inside, for DD use I prefer my NC.

It sounds like you've already killed your classing anyway with the mods you've done to your NB.  Why not slap a turbo on it and have a serious rocket?

The plot thickens, and I'm not opposed to traveling.

Just make sure you get a deal worked out ahead of time - some of the bargain dealers are known to apply every rebate known to man including some you can't stack or some you won't qualify for. But get the paperwork done before you head out and you're golden.
