If you're working on your project's exhaust, remember that there are noise limits for both your ears and many racing venues. Also, who wants to be that jackass with the ear-bleedingly loud car?

I don't see one where the jack is. If the jack were to have failed that one jack stand would likely not have prevented squishy bits being squished. Darned irresponsible of GRM to post that pic up

That was a good read. Is there a source out there about exhaust harmonics to better explain how the longer muffler yielded more power?

I see one but it doesnt even look like it is raised. The entire car is on that aluminum jack.

And the jack has 1 caster in the air:

It sure looks to me like the stand is up 3 notches.

Scary!

It only takes a few minutes to eliminate the chance of serious injury or death. Seems like a good investment.

WHAT!?!?! DID YOU SAY SOMETHING?!?!?!

For as loud as they were, 2x2.5" dia Dynomax Race Magnum bullets still were good enough to avoid the cops on my old Bassani off road X-pipe'd 'stang.....

Now the Magnaflow on my Dakota..... UGH. Probably doesn't help the cab is sparsely appointed and the muffler doesn't have a turndown.

For shame, GRM, for shame!

OTOH, this article reminded me that I'll need silencers for my turbo RX-7. Even with the turbocharger and dual exhausts that sucker is LOUD. Apex'i makes silencers for the N1 dual fart cannon exhaust on my car, but they're $200/each.

Actually, I bet the jack has both casters off the ground. The shadow just hides it real well....

Plus no wood pads to spread out the load and having the jack and stand sink into the asphalt.....

is it possible to get both castors off of the ground?

I make sure to have 2 stands, at least 2, under the car with the car lowered gently on to them before I attempt to do anything under my car. I remove the jack and have the jack stands up high enough to prevent any squishy bits from being in harms way. Play it safe, man!

kudos to the GRM community on the brutal assault on unsafe practices.

Next time the staff will be paranoid about it.....and that's a good thing
