This morning as I was taking my 2 1/2 year old daughter to school, she noticed that the wheels were different and asked me why I had new wheels (they're not new). I explained to her that they were summer wheel/tires and I put them on when the weather is warm. It's been on for about 3 weeks, but none the less - super proud!
Kid's gonna be alright.
Happy for you.
My 18 year old had her lesson in a manual with her uncle at the weekend (JK Wrangler, dead easy compared to my C30). Her reaction “why would anyone, ever want to to that, What’s the point?” Sigh. To her credit she’s a natural though. He had her timing the shifts for clutchless upshifts within 15 mins.

My 13 year old nephew had the same attitude when I took him for a ride in my sister's Vette.
"Why do you keep doing that?"
"Doing what?"
"That thing with the ball on the stick"
"It's shifting, you have to shift to the next gear to go faster"
"Hmm"
2 minutes later we're slowing down and I downshift.
"You gotta de-shift it too??? This is way too much work, my Vette is going to be an automatic"
You can't win them all. I did rotate the car a little with the throttle in a slow corner and gave him the side glance, he was smiling.
"Did we just drift that corner?"
"No, and don't tell Grandma"
My daughter was six years old when she noticed a car sounded just like mine. It was the exact year mustang. I was so proud.
When she had to learn to drive on a stick, she wasn't thrilled. Now she is secretly proud, although she does not have the drive (pun intended) to drive. It is wonderful though to see her downshifting and pulling out of a curve. Both my kids learned slow in fast out. I just didn't think she was paying attention.
My son actually got yelled at during drivers ed for taking the curves, "too fast"! But they were also impressed he didn't slow down for squirrels.
Thanks for sharing your Dad moment, they are what it's all about.

We were walking through the parking area at an SCCA race at the old Moroso track in West Palm. My daughter was three. At some point she pointed and said “Miata!” (I had a ‘99 at the time that we took to breakfast on Sundays). I glanced over and saw she was pointing at the back of a white dually truck. I laughed and said, “Honey that isn’t a Miata, that a dually Dodge.” She pointed again and said louder “Miata!” I looked closer and the dually had NB Miata taillights custom mounted in the dually fenders. I couldn’t believe she recognized the Miata taillights on that truck.
Taught her to drive stick in my Boxster S. She tracked my FRS at Sebring. She knows more about cars that any other 22 year old guy I know. She helped me change spark plugs on my ‘69 427 Corvette with factory AC.
She’s the best!

You guys make me feel hopeful for our addition due in August. Thanks for sharing. I've been making vroom-vroom noises to her current location. My wife was amused at first, but is a little over my shenanigans now..
All great stories guys!! I’m hoping my little one with share the passion with me someday but it’s not looking good given the direction the world is moving. If not it looks like I’ll have to pick up a hobby of hers.
