Dammit. Why couldn't this be Saturday/Sunday? Birthday weekend, needing sumthin to do. Hmm. 3hr drive, if I left early Saturday morning...
Like I wrote earlier...a tragically missed opportunity!
I wish you could be here too. Oh, how I would like to drive a MR2 SC again. I miss mine a lot.

If I go it will probably be the Abarth (comfort, A/C, satellite radio, etc) and I'm curious what it would do on the 1/4 mile. I have never drag raced in my life, and a fun run would be a good opportunity to see how bad I am. Safely.
OK - took the afternoon off and will be there. Really looking forward to it.
I will be in a black 2013 Mustang GT convertible trying drag racing for the first time and autocross in car with over 100 rear wheel HP for the first time.
I was trying to convince my wife to go and take her new (to us) 2010 Miata that I just put new lowering springs on last weekend.

I'll look for you. Like I said earlier, I'll be there around 6pm tonight with my son and his (really my) black '01 Mustang Bullitt. I'll be there tomorrow pretty much all day with that car, my other sons (really my) '99 black Miata, and maaaybe my bronze '65 Mustang. Looking forward to meeting a few of you guys in real life.

pedal to floor on last yellow, do not wait for green.

Yeah, I did my first drag run ever at the same track during Power Tour last year. I think I had a .235 reaction time! Shouldn't be too hard to improve on that! In any case I'll then go to the autocross where I think I'll feel much better.
The Miata is out of storage and seems ready to go. I gave it a wash (mosly rinse) last night as well as put on a few highway miles yesterday which seems to be enough to recharge the battery.
I am shooting for getting there early.
Conflicting weather reports. Some say partly sunny. Some say rain in the afternoon. It is sunny now at 10am.
The 20 yr old I invited will not be able to make it. I'll be there alone, looking much like the guy on the left but w/o the Sweatsedo (the tuxedo of sweat suits) and w/o any young girls.
A good chance I will be in a GRM Challenge T-shirt.
You don't think that a helmet is required for the fun run drag and autocross? I didn't see anything on the site.
In reply to Rusnak_322:
I wondered the same thing, but there is no mention of it. Last year at the Power Tour event, they didn't require helmets for the drag racing, so I'm thinking no?
Good question but I packed a helmet anyway.
I've been to non-SCCA autocrosses where they looked at me funny when I asked if I needed a helmet.
Drag racing you generally don't need a helmet until a certain time.
I'll be there Saturday for sure, on the quarter in the S40. My boss might show up to talk to the UMI guys, we're looking into selling/installing their stuff. I'm trying to convince him to autocross his CTS He did one of those Vegas track day experiences last month...

I'm expecting organization to be a clusterberk. My last experience at that track had only two runs in four hours with a not very high turnout.

All I can say is I've attended every Super Summit, and they are run incredibly well. That said, this is the first time they have had it at this location with Drag and autocross, so I guess we'll find out.
I just got here and autocross is limited to 3 runs but drags are unlimited.
In reply to JohnRW1621:
See you in a couple hours.
Drags have started. The have called the first 100 cars to grid.
There are 8 autox cars here.

I may have to swing out tomorrow and lay down FTD in a slow pile of dump.
Good times. I got 10 or 12 passes at the strip with never more then 4 pairs of cars in front of me and 4 runs on the autocross course in about 30 mins.
Got to meet JohnRW1621 and did about 6 autocross ridealongs with him in the span of about 10 mins.
Left when the rain came but there were a lot of cool cars including a new Alfa and a 1960's Charger that were tearing it up thru the cones.
The weather forecast was for isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and one of those storms isolated itself right over the event!
I arrived about 2:30 and got registered at the Summit Trailer (near Big Foot) which then after signing the waiver got you the needed wristband to compete.
I was back at the autocross section by 2:45 and the course walk started promptly at 3:00. Couldn't have been more than 3:10 and cars were on the course.
There were less than 12 cars there. Though they said 3 runs that changed to as many runs as you can make till 3:45. I laid down nearly 10 passes. With Rusnak in the passenger seat, we were making truly hot passes. As soon as you were done with one, you just pulled right back into the starting box.
My best time was a 32.5. The FTD that I saw was a C4 Corvette, Super Street Mod, at 29 seconds.
While the second group ran (another 10 or so car had arrived), I went off an did 3 passes of the drag strip. If you wondered what a stock '90 Miata can do the answer is a lowly 17.1 (pretty consistently!)
On my last drag run, I was lined up with a NB Miata. He pulled a 12.1 second run. Though there were no outward signs other than a set of large aftermarket rims, the car had an LS1.
The drag runs were "no wait" also.
I the headed back to the Autox where I passengered with Rusnak 2 or 3 times in his Mustang Convertible. An interesting contrast where he had tons of throttle and lots of brakes (unlike the Miata.)
I was lined up to be in the next heat of autox again when the skies opened with extremely heavy rain. I stayed and gathered under a tent with many others. The rain was coming down faster than it could run off and we were soon standing in very wet shoes. .
Once it slowed enough to get to the car, I decided to call it a night. The course was not going to dry any time soon.
I called my wife and told her of the cancellation of the event and since she was running late, she asked if I could pick up the baby at Nanna's (which I did.)
Thank you Summit for a great event! I got to play and then still be a good husband/father.
I am amused that the whole event was less demanding than, say, "9 Hole Golf League."
I left work about 2:00 and was headed home by 5:00. Oh, how I wish this could be offered every Friday.
About half way through the 15 minute ride back home, the road was completely dry. It had never rained at my house.
Autox timing was handled by NORA. Helmets are not required.
There was an Alfa C4 present that was pretty darn cool.
I rarely think of myself as shy, so I made friends with the owner and then got a ride-a-long!
It made very cool sounds! It had an interesting "auto" electronic trans that sort of seemed to not shift at the right times for autox.
But, who am I to say...his times were faster than mine.
I got there around 7:15. So that is why there was standing water everywhere.
The Volvo is sick. Sick as in not well. A 3400lb car making 160hp (factory rating) should run roughly 16.2 at 83. Which is right around what my car did as-tested by what few magazines bothered to review such a blandmobile.
I ran a pair of 18s at laughable MPH. I've literally gone quicker in my POS Quantum dragging a dead cylinder. Wallace Racing's calculator indicates 115hp, which isn't bad for a SOHC 2-liter. Too bad mine has DOHC and a turbo. But all is not lost - I know now that there are at least forty missing ponies, so my goal of having 200hp in this pig is that much more enticing.
Scan tool plugged in, it's only making 4psi boost. 125kpa manifold pressure. That's really low.
On to the event - that giant Bigfoot? When I was a little kid, I got a monster truck tape for my birthday. That Bigfoot (Bigfoot IV, I think) was "unveiled" in that video. Blew my mind to see it right there, in the flesh!
We arrived Friday night during the storm. Couldn't see a foot in front of the car! So we waited it out until it stopped, had something to eat in the meantime, then made some runs down the strip and the autocross. I looked but never did find any of you guys.
Saturday we didn't get there until around 12:30 due to some poor planning on my part. We dragged all three cars, had some lunch, and then switched cars to make a couple more runs. Time got away from us and by the time we got to the autocross it was closed. Next year I'll do it a little differently, but we had a good time anyway. Sorry I didn't get to meet any of you.

Friday I decided I wasn't going to make it and bought a shock tower bar up in MI instead. Saturday, did a bunch of nothing for most of the day, washed my pile and hung out with my parents. My front tires are pretty bald so that swayed my decision not to risk the trip/racing that day. Looked like a pretty cool event though, I'll have to make it next year!
Alright, I got the autocross bug again. I want to get my wife to try it now that she has a Miata. Any low key events coming up in the area that I can take her? I used to autocross at north field park with NORA but they don't have a schedule for 2015 yet.
At the event, another guy with a Miata gave me his card for The Mid Ohio Sports Car Club, not associated with Mid Ohio Sport Car Course.
Non SCCA, associated autox club.
I plan to attend their event at Pioneer High School in Shelby, OH June 28th.
They claim to have less than 40 cars!
