I like useing these on my Alfa Romeo spider, conversion. But now I read you should not use these on oil cooler lines, water ( heater ) lines..i know you font use hose clamps on these. My thoughts on why ,no use on oil cooler/water  lines, the hose might release  from the fittings

 This is bad

What about useing the spring clamps from Japanese cars, they will allow expansion and contraction , as the engine goes thru heat cycles. , what do folks think?

I’ve used them to as oil feed lines for turbochargers, I have friends who’ve used them for fuel.

Held up great in both instances. I wonder what their reasoning is.

Me too. I would not put a hose clamp on one, have tested that. A hose clamp would let the barbs cut into the hose. But I found that those Japanese spring clamps do not cause damage

Now that you mention it I was specifically told to not put a clamp on the push lock.

You definitely don't want to put a clamp on it. The internal braid is at an angle the causes the hose to shrink in diameter when it is pressurized and grip the barb on the fitting. Putting a clamp on it can compress the braid and change the angle. It can also cause the barb to cut into the inner liner.

I imagine they do not recommend it for those applications due to the temp rating. It is rated at max 212°F for petroleum fluids and 185° for water based fluids.

I’m in industrial sales - your tips are spot on.

Everyone uses PL connectors and most I know hate them but they are easily to install.  We have 12+ crimpers at work so we like to crimp everything if we can.

I'm in industrial sales on the product support/development side. I've only ever used PL for air lines but have no complaints. I was able to save a few crimpers from the scrap pile at work and piece together a working one so anything I need to do in the future will be crimped.

Columbus? Parker?

We have a crimper junkyard at work.  Mainly all the old Dayco stuff - if I can help?

Kimball Midwest. We are a weatherhead distributor, we do a lot more than just hydraulics though.

I have used them for fuel only and have never had a leak. I like them they look clean and have problem free me.

Odd, I've bought oil cooler and remote filter kits in the past that all used push-loc fittings.

Is "do not use for oil" something new or just manufacturers protecting themselves from the legal lottery?

Parker states you can use hydraulic fluids and oils with their #801 push-lok hose.

Guess I will use Parker  stuff.

I'll use push loc for air but only as a quick fix.  For oil cooler I'll use what came in the kit to route the hoses then remove and go get real hydraulic hoses made up Something made to take hot oil under pressure all day long... I never want an oil fire to ruin my race car or bike, I'm fully capable on my own to do that...
