After way, way, way too much debating the old "what car?" question, I finally pulled the trigger on a new daily driver. 2015 BRZ Limited in Ice Silver. I'm super excited to get out and hit some backroads. As a bonus the wife is already planning some weekend trips around fun drives, can't ask for more than that!
Congrats. I have sat in one, but I have yet to drive one. They are very tempting to me though. People keep complaining about the horsepower but I think these things are such a bargain that people will regret not having bought one when they were new.
Thanks! I really do think the "lack of horsepower" is all relative. For the size and weight it moves along pretty good. I test drove a lot of other "faster" cars, but they were either way more than I wanted to spend, or felt too big and disconnected.
Also, for the price I was able to get, I couldn't have bought a year or two old used one in my area. I'm very happy!
Good for you! My brother recently sold his '67 427 Corvette and bought one. He just can't quit talking about how much better he likes driving the BRZ. He lives on an island in Puget Sound and says it's perfect for the roads there.

I thought they felt like a hard top Miata. Not a lot of go, but a blast on the track. In fact, when I get too old for a soft top, I might consider one. I don't know if my walker will fit into it at that point, though. Maybe if I get a good parking spot at the rest home.

Congrats.
I think that you will find that the people who sing the chorus line of "Not Enough Power" the loudest are those whose lifes or wifes would not let them have one anyways.
Enjoy, I am three years into mine and while they are not a race-car, they are nice to drive.
As an aside, did you give any thought to waiting for a new Miata?
Congrats, I bought a 2015 BRZ Limited in black (asphalt? IDK) back in October. Very big fan of the car and I've had a lot of fun ones over the last 6-7 years. It's by far my favorite.
I think it moves along just fine, you just have to keep the revs up if you really want it to be rapid.
Or run it on E85

If know I will if they go out of production before I can buy one!

Ummm, how cheap are they? DD#1's 2002 Impreza is getting long in the tooth and she'd like to switch to a manual. Should I advise her to consider a trade in?
Congrats. A friend's son just purchased one. Loves it.
Welcome, brother.
The people complaining loudest about a lack of power seem to be the ones who dont own one.
Nice! I saw a silver one the other day. Looks great in that color.
They are super popular at our local autocrosses, with amazing handling. The STX battles have been epic lately.

Hi there, fellow denizen of the internets, did you know that Subaru has a web site on which you can view the requested information?
But seriously, mine had $450 in added port options over the normal MSRP of a Limited. They sold it to me for $1500 off MSRP before it even made it to the lot. I picked it up with something like 8 miles on it.
Thanks for all the positive comments guys, I really am super excited about this car. I was excited to drive to work this morning, never thought I'd say that!?
I did think about waiting for the ND miata, buy at 6'4", I've never fit well at all in the miatas before, and considering the new model hasn't grown in size, I didn't think it was worth waiting to find out. While I don't have a mile of headroom, and a helmet may be tight, I fit comfortably, and the seating position really fits me well.
Plus, I was able to buy my Limited trim BRZ for $26,100 before tax and licence. I felt like that was a killer deal! The last day of the month and being very honest that I didn't "need" the car as much as they needed to sell it, worked well.
It came off the showroom with just under 7 miles!
I've driven one at an autocross that had the power thing fixed. Forced induction really wakes it up.
I like the BRZ front a lot better than the FR-S. Cool car.

Why, thank you for that valuable tip, kind sir. I was, in fact, aware of the availability of such a resource. Sadly, like most of its kind, its actual, real-world relevance to what a citizen could expect to find and pay at one of the many regional Subaru emporia is virtually nonexistant.

Now, that's what I'm talkin bout. Thanks.

Just razzin' ya a bit.
SO I think I ended up paying something like $26,700ish, because it had the plastic scratchguard thing on the rear bumper and the homelink mirror.

Sorry about my ignorance. I'm not that up to date on them yet. What are "$450 in added port options?"

That really seems like a lot of car for 26K. If not for child seat requirements it would definitely be near the top of the list... Fingers crossed for them to offer an STI version at some point...
