You people and your "4x4's"......
And yes, it handles as good as it looks... Plus can't get a jack under the front of it.

The front was lowered 2.25" and the rear was lowered about 1.25". I'll go snag a pic of the whole car.
It's impossible to get a good picture without rolling the car out, which would turn the garage into a swamp for the rest of the day.
I'm okay with the drop now. I think it's fine. I have always used coilovers in the past so I suppose I was just shocked by the change in height, which really means nothing in the end. (Hard to say what the original setup was)
J308 wrote: In reply to BigD: Rake looks pretty good... but if I'm not mistaken, it looks like all you really did was lower the rear, right? So it's not so tail-high, and with less rake, the front lip is a little higher. Stuff at the axle, (read: oil pan) is still at the same height, correct?
The H&Rs were gone, I got the adjusters/springs from GC. It lowered the rear quite a bit but it actually raised the front some since I made the change mid-season so I didn't have time to do it right (chop/weld the strut), so I tossed the adjusters onto the OE spring perch. I've since gone E36 M3 5 lug with GC race struts - I think at full droop my front axle is now lower than it was at min height before lol

Yeah they gave me a great deal in exchange for rocking their name for a year, just gotta send them reports/pics of what events you've done. I had Sparco Evos in my last car and I really didn't want to buy those again. They cost and arm and a leg and in my opinion, the quality doesn't reflect the price (the fabric wore through in several areas, incl the leather or vinyl reinforcement, one of the shoulder belt hole plastic guides fell apart). I got the FX1 and the materials are way more durable. The only thing I prefer in the Sparcos is the padding but this car has no street duty so I don't care about that.
A pic mid-install:
I'm looking at a side picture of my car which has H&R Sports and yours looks the same, so I'd say the springs are right.
What do you e30 + H&R sport guys do for bump stops? Mine seem to be riding on them. I think I'm going to spring for some good bump stops. (See other thread)
I went straight to GC for their full kit with shortened housings/dampers once I realized how little travel I had with the E30 I bought lowered with cheap coilovers and bilstein sports. Seemed pricey at 1st glance but not really for what you get.At this height when brought home it was nearly riding on the strut tops with no bumpstops, its now about 3/4" higher than that but with proper stops and wheel travel.
Taiden wrote: Well, you can double up (one on top, one on bottom) on the 9mm spring pads up front which will give a 12 mm increase, just about 0.5". I think I'm going to do that. IIRC they are about $6 a pop. The cool thing is I have no brake dive anymore! Also just learned last night that I have no rear sway bar. Not sure how that one escaped me before. So now the plan is to get a stock rear sway and a vert front sway and see what happens.
pretty sure there is no "stock" rear sway on a 318i..
there are mounts for it, so a 325 bar can be put on though...
btw, what is this "low" that you guys keep talking about?
Yeah the 318i did not have one. I just assumed I did have one, it never even registered that I didn't.

Put your engine back in, homie.

Clean!!!!
Got any pics with the new ride height?
Go to Home Depot, go in and get 4-5 bags of sand or gravel - something that's useful for landscaping in the spring. Start putting bags in the trunk, remembering to roll the car back and forth between added bags to settle the suspension for a true reading. I think 2 bags will get you where you want to be. Return what you don't need.

hater...
In reply to J308:
No new pics, looks exactly the same just a little higher
I need to attack it with a fender roller and then it's going back down close to that picture above-with a skidplate to protect the low hanging 24v sump.Still not slammed like the kiddies like but low enough to look good while still being a ton of fun on the twisty back roads.
