I have a turbo engine lying around my house, if I remove the non turbo original install this motor does it count towards my Budget? If so how much is FMV?
If so
I can sell my motor to a friend for $700 but how much is my current motor worth?
Slotting the front rotors and adding hawk pads is this considered budget?
I know the machine work is $20 per rotor.
Will the brake pads count even tho it is a safety item>?
The car came with aftermarket 17" wheels but I would like to use stock 16" turbo II wheels.
Does this count towards my budget? I already have the wheels and tires.
The wheels are stock OEM equipment on turbo II rx7's so can I just count the tires?
Anything you remove, sell it to recoup out of your budget.
If you can get your buddy to pay $700 for your n/a motor, then you just took your budget down to $0. Assign a FMV to your Turbo motor, based off of what they usually go for in that condition.
I have no idea about motor costs for that car, so i can't help you with a number.
Don't both slotting the rotors. There, i just saved you $40!
Adding performance pads DO go against the budget. OEM equivalent do not.
Sell your 17s, use that money to pay FMV for your stock 16s.

FWIW, if you're able to get $700 for a N/A motor, you're gonna have to ding the budget pretty bad for the Turbo motor. If $700 is a realistic number for the original, then I'd expect a grand or more in the budget for the turbo version.
Friend of mine just sold a T-II engine, trans, and harness for $500 if that helps.
Thank You for your help guys, I did read the rules over 5 times but I do like the opinion of others before i just make up my own mind.
Well I get turbo II motors for about $400-$800 anyways.with everything, harness ECU Long Block trans diff and shaft!
If I get $700 for my motor original motor I can try to find FMV for the turbo II stuff
for around $600-$800 that should set me at about $1000 with $1010 left over to spare.
What can i do with $1010 humm.
Car Cost $700
Car Came with RB Dual Primary Road Race Exhaust
17" x 7" Drag Wheels for sale
Momo With Quick Release
**
$700 car value (MINUS)
Wheels for sale $400-$500
Non Turbo Engine Trans Shaft Rear End $500-$700
after selling those parts my budget should start at $0000
Car Budget for both days
Engine swap:
S5 89 - 91 Turbo II motor and complete swap + $600-$800
Sock OEM Brake Pads + $000
All Fluids + $000
Drag Day:
2 x Kumho V710 for Drag 225-50-16 on stock wheels = $150
HKS F-Con with FCD = $150
MAN After thinking of everything maybe I should just go non turbo!
Ditch the turbo II swap idea and keep the original motor and sell the wheels and interior to comp back the $700 for car cost and I can just budget tthe whole $2010 to parts, keep things simpler and a bigger budget for mods.
I just read other postings of people who are running turbo's on their set ups!?!?!
How do you do this and stay under budget!?!
Now I am bouncing Ideas of my 84 GSL-SE rx7
That one cost me $200 dollars.

Just for an idea of FMV, I paid $1000 for a freshly-rebuilt TII engine that was ported with all new Atkins Rotary seals and hardened stat gears. I got the transmission for that price too... Which is crazy, I was just about to start ordering parts to rebuild mine and I had about $1400 totaled up :)
Edit: I guess I should point out that the post is still available from that sale on rx7club.com, if you need any "proof" that they are around for that price.
I would just use a used motor with good compression.
I found a complete 91 parts for for a pretty penny I won't say just yet but it was under $600 for the complete 1991 RX7 Stock Turbo Parts car Black/Black. I let the cat out of the bag!
I am getting a little stingy now and want to keep that set up for my personal project car and possibly just stay non turbo and use the GSL-SE I just picked up.
Take note you have a couple of conditions on the recoup rule. The maximum total recoup is $1005 and no one item can be recoup claimed for more than you paid for it, profit is nice but not included.
ie: paid $500 for vehicle sold items off it to value $1000, max recoup is $500
ie: selling items to value of $2500 is cool but only $1005 total can be claimed.
