Found one of these for $100: IMS 16 Speed Floor Drill Press
Guy says it works fine. Is this one of the desireable "older" drill presses that are good quality?

That looks identical to the Harbor Freight drill press I bought 30+ years ago and still use regularly. For a bill, I would say it's well worth it.
One of the rare times I actually agree with something the good doctor says. I have that exact same drill press and it's served me well. For $100 you can't go wrong.
Looks exactly like the HF one I have too. Works fine, there is some end play in mine after the years of use, still works though.
I used an identical press for many years. Check for play in the headstock, and runnout. If its pretty good tolerances, buy it.
My Sears Craftsman looks to share a few of the parts on that one. I'll buy Taiwan over China any day of the week and twice on Sunday!
Even with a little play in the headstock it's still more accurate than drilling holes in steel with a handheld drill. For a bill it's well worth it.
I did get it one Friday! This is me bringing it home in the e28 since that's what I was driving that day.
It was tight, but it fit. Plugged it in and it seems to be great. I don't beleive there is any play in the headstock, it seems tight, but I'm also new to these so I'm not 100% sure I'm checking correctly. Do I just wiggle where the bit would go?
There's two places for play to devleop, between the headstock and quill (the assembly that moves up and down, keep this oiled) and the spindle (spinny bit) bearings. Play in the quill bore often isn't adjustable/correctable but a little never hurt anything (the drill bit will still center in a punch mark if you do it correctly). Take the belts off and feel how the motor and spindle spin. A belt drive drill press should run pretty quiet. Also not a bad idea to chuck up a dowel pin and check runout with a dial indicator, cheap chucks and arbors can be pretty messed up.
