That's really cool. Those were the days of the funky vans. Toyota and Mitsubishi both had similar models. Very rare to see any of them on the road anymore.
The buyback was mentioned in the CL ad. Very few escaped, but some did. I hate Nissans too much to own it, especially Nissans from the late 80s, but it is cool.

It was Nissan, and it was voluntary. You didn't have to sell the van back, but almost everyone did. Quite rare van. My friend forrest in California had a hand in building this van years ago. He has a Delica like mine now as well as many of the US spec Delica L300's.
