I'm not a drag guy, so I was impressed by how fast some of the budget, entry level cars were.

Nice take on Pat Musi's Popeye scheme on that RX-3/Starlet/whatever. Gotta love the rotary guys, and man that RX-8 is HAWT.
I was wondering where Christine got off to, I never expected Aruba. Looks like it's still as built.
Cool! I went to the racetrack when I was on the island but the only thing I saw on it were a few wild donkeys. What's the brown truck under the yellow RX-8? A Datsun?
I think you'd do mighty good business if you opened up a road course down there, but I guess someone already tried a few years ago and got blocked by NIMBYs. :(

I'm thinking that it's a Datsun 1200.
That Datsun truck has a turbo SR20, if I recall. It ran 11's.
I thought it was a circle track that was proposed, but they wanted to put it on land that was considered 'heritage', or something like that. It very well could have been NIMBY's, but that would be uncharacteristic for the island. In fact, they are so not like that, every time I go, it makes me realize what an awful society we've become over here, but thats a rant for another day.
I'd think they could put a track on the East side of the island. It is pretty desolate over there. Just rocks, billy-goats and shark-infested water.
A cab driver in Aruba nearly made me crap my pants. I swear he got the car up on 2 wheels!
My perhaps favorite part about Aruba is the pretty-much necessary offroading in outrageously expensive to rent subcompact cars. If they'd seen the terrain I forced their car over, I don't think Avis would have only tried to charge me for leaving beach sand in the back seat.
In addition to some pretty interesting cars, there seemed to be a speed/custom shop on the main road between the airport and the high rise hotels, but it was closed every time I drove by.
