rallycross

I just picked up a 84 rx7 mainly for parts since the body is rough and its rusted but before i strip it I'm very tempted to rallycross it. I know I've seen a few FBs rally crossed and it is sooooo tempting. the 24 hrs of lemons is tempting ashell but it has a little more rust than i would want to worry about and knowing my luck i'd blow the motor(not easy to do ) and i need that as a spare for my spec 7 car. but i figure bring few buddies and take turns driving the crap out of it in a rally cross. what ya think?

Do it! RWD isn't the best drivetrain for dirt, but definitely the most dramatic - ask them Duke boys about that. Plus the RX-7 is such a well balanced car it oughta be easy to toss around. Fun, too, and that's what it's all about.

Do it! The torque delivery of the rotary is perfect for RallyX. It can be very competitive too, as long as you stay in stock or prepared class. (If you get into modified class you also run against the FWD cars, who will hand your ass to you).

There's not many things more fun than chucking a RWD car around a dirt track.

Looks like it will happen.. the next one i can get to will be in sept at summit point. I'll be sure to take plenty of pics and video.. I need to get some grassroots stickers for it. Having grown up on a farm I spent plent of time abusing cars in the fields so It will be like old times..

Bruceman rallycrosses an RX-7, he does quite well too. Having rallycrossed a RWD car (see my avatar), I have to say, it is most fun on the dirt.

There have been a couple RX-7s at RallyXes around here in the past. One of the locals had an FC he both RallyX'd and used for stage rally for many years. Maybe if I get my car all finished up I'll see you at Summit in September!

its realy tempting to build a nice FB to do rally and rally cross but hell right now its killing me just to get the spec car right and ready for a full season.
