Now I want to mix some coolant with soot and set it on fire.
That quoted price for the 2500 diesel is nuts. That's over 60% more than I paid for mine new.

Every once in a while I stop in and look at the new Rams. By the time I copy the truck I have I'm looking at over $75K. The only reason I would get a newer Cummins is the noise level compared to the acoustic weapon in my truck. My 2001 has probably the worst version of the 5.9 for noise and crappy VP44 injection pump and I even have a "53" block. So, I have the "Bad" one all the way around and I'm just about to cross 370K miles on it.
My 2010 6.7 is a nicely refined place to be with very little diesel racket. Quite a difference from my father in law's 2006. I'm hoping to get at least 300k out of it. Although doing the math, I may not live long enough :)
To top it off, they claim they paid $76k, and they'd "hook me up" for 7k under. I mean, I just can't believe the whole thing. I think the new half tons have all the towing I'll ever need- 23' 1972 Airstream, and eventual enclosed vintage racing trailer. That's aspirational.
Ok, update time.
Couple things I noticed in the comments when I'm not angry at the thing:
1. Keith- It is not only a bad dealer/service dept thing... the design of the glow plug is basically bad. The threads are deeply recessed into the head, and there is no "seal" device or otherwise to keep crap from getting into the recess, or water into the recess, encouraging corrosion etc at that interface.
2. Bob- ironically, this is a cooperatively developed motor with GM, who wanted to put it in their euro cadillac. Funny that their new diesels are a completely different (I6?) design.
Anyway, changed the oil yesterday. It came out with such force that it must have been 1/4 water. I mean, it was warm, but I've not seen anything like this, ever. Pulled the drain plug and just gushed out without any indication of the fact that oil is viscous.
I asked the corporate guy if there was some extended warranty on the engine they could offer me (via email) due to the obviously ignorant nature of the repair. They allegedly replaced the head, but the dealer has had over a week to send me the paperwork, and not a word from them, despite my calling and leaving messages. Time for yet another visit.
So, FUN! Still working on Ford configurations- anything anyone notes as a "must have" and I'm all ears. Still not 100% on getting a new/different truck (because I like this one, generally!), but walking down that road, slowly.
