Random thought-razor blades

How many have or have had a packet of razor blades in their tool box ?

I have, and they were immediately taken out. Ouch that freaking hurts! Now they sit in the special “drawer of danger” in my toolbox. 

I buy them in the 100 count box. 

I keep a utility knife in my tool box. It’s safer and can always remove the blade if the need arises. 

Always keep them so that they won't bite you.

A dispenser of replacement blades for my trusty Stanley 99e in the top drawer, about a hundred regular razor blades (still wrapped in their protective cardboard) scattered throughout the other drawers. The top of the toolbox probably has half a dozen unwrapped, but too new to toss blades at any given time.

A box of 1000 razor blades is cheap and they are useful for everything from cutting to cleaning windows.

Good way to dispose of old blades and nails is to keep an empty paint can in the garage. 

I use them on a lot of things at work, so I generally have a few floating around.

I did discover that if you're going to use one to slice a box open, make sure you're pressing on the back of the blade with your finger, and not the sharp edge.  It's hard to tell in the dark.

I have a magnet on my box that holds a few. When they are worn out I take the edge to the bench grinder for a second and toss them out. 

The black plastic Stanley dispenser lives in the top section of my tool box. I actually have one for each tool box. 

When I forget that they have a part to hold used blades, about most of the time, a Gatorade bottle works well for not destroying garbage bags

We have a box of 100 by Stanley, I think. The holder has a section to store the old blades so no random sharpness is running amok.

I buy the dispenser packs of single edge razor blades and utility blades. A 100 count will last a couple of years. They live in the toolbox drawer labeled Cutting and Scraping, along with all the other items that will make you bleed.

I'm now considering relabling my tool boxes by their actual function.

"Blood letters" sharp stuff

"knuckle busters" wrenches

"finger smashers" hammers and pry bars

and "twisty things" screwdrivers/drill bits

The razor blade holders make them slightly less dangerous.  But sometimes sightly more dangerous.  Very useful.  

I store my razor blades inside apples.    (all kidding aside that was a major fear in the 1960's, 1970's.....)

If i could find a bigger box, i would.

Got around 300 in the drawer right now....

Also: put some duct tape around them before throwing in tge can. Saves 3 stitches in your shin later.

That's how most of mine is labeled. I have drawers like Tiny Tools. SAE Wrenches and Adjustable Nut Destroyers. Beaters, Punches, and Destructive Tools. Gaseous Tools. I even have one labeled The Last Place, as in the last place you look.

I think that’s a wallpaper knife.  You burn through a lot of blades when cutting wet wallpaper. 

My dad does a lot of paint work so I've grown up with plain razor blades as our normal utility knife. He buys them in bulk and we always have plenty. They are really the best knife for a few short uses. Also, they're sharp enough that it doesn't hurt when you cut yourself. Sometimes I only find the cut minutes later when I dip my hand into acetone.

Empty beer cans make perfect holders for used blades.

Always have razor blades on hand in the toolbox.  I use them on their own or in my many scrapers.

Bought the bulk pack from Harbor Freight last time, but I'll buy better ones when these run out.  They don't hold an edge very well and have to be thrown away with little use.
