Has landed!
Been looking for v10 excursions and came across a sweet deal on a 2000 excursion with a 7.3. She's not pretty but she will get the job done. When I get to Texas I might clean her up and flip her. Or, I may keep her

Something must be in the air...I also recently bought something with the 7.3 powerstroke, but it's quite a bit different. Love those diesel excursions though!

Well I don't have a pic to post yet, but it's a 99 F550 xlt rollback!
I think it's going to be the ultimate project enabler. 7.3 diesel, 6 speed, 19ft Jerr Dan deck, and wheel lift. Runs real good and best of all cold ac. It'll haul a crew cab long bed dually on the deck (I know because it hauled mine once back when it was in service!). I threw my insurance agent lady for a loop when I brought this to her for private use only, but she got it figured out, so I'm all good on the insurance front. I'm busy doing some tlc and removing the decals, then may start a thread on it or add a blurb in my v12 thread.
In reply to Mitchell:
It definitely doesn't hurt! Maybe I'll put a little Benz emblem right by my 'Not for hire' decal.
In reply to Pete Gossett:
That's a good point. I plan on repainting the deck, so maybe I'll paint that on the sides....'The Enabler'

If by MB you mean Maserati Biturbo, then yes, yes it is.

Will do. So what's the story on the excursion? It looks pretty good in the pic. Does it run out okay? I'm on my third 7.3 and getting pretty decent at working on them.....a chip wakes them up nicely even on a mild setting.

The motor and trans seem flawless to me. I actually had a ppi done at a well known ford diesel shop. They gave it a good bill of health. There's also tons of dealer invoices. The owner before last took it to the dealer for every little thing. Its had the waterpump done 50k ago, the seller had diff trans coolant ps and oil done less than 4k ago as well as brakes and other things. Its just ugly. Seats are torn up, paint fade on hood and roof, line crack in windshield, some missing wood on the dash. All fixable. AC works and it doesn't smoke or leak. Seller found a 7.3 f350 4x4 6spd manual and ran out of driveway
I'm going to try not to add any performance mods to if. Its def slower than my 6.0 F250 but not that slow.
Plans:
Windshield.
Transmission cooler upgrade - 31 6.0 cooler or 37 row mishimoto....stock is 9 rows
Something to monitor egt and trans temps.
Tires
Add rear swaybar
Anti-theft
Shocks
05 headlight upgrade

I also want to add an egt gauge to the rollback, and the headlight upgrade is a great idea. I might chip it, but we'll see how it pulls stock first with something like a suburban on the deck. It does have 4.88 gears, so that helps.
I also need to get my locks and keyless entry working. The locks make noise, but don't move, so the plan is to fix those, then get a couple of fobs to program.
Agreed on the tune. I run an economy tune that is supposed to primarily improve mileage but bumps HP by 80 as a side effect. It really wakes it up.
You should have 3.73 gears in that I'm thinking which is good. You shouldn't have any problem getting close to 20 MPG with it. My truck (F350 dually 4X2) will only muster about 16.5 but I'm saddled with 4.11's
