Italian coachbuilder and designer Pietro Fura may be best known for his work with Maserati, Glas and even AC, but when's the last time you heard about this, the Europo Hurst?
Sometime in the '70s, Frua was contacted by Chevrolet to re-body a second-generation Camaro. At the time of writing this, the reason isn't exactly clear, but Frua did the work nonetheless.
If …

Front reminds me heavily of the federal "Mercury" Capri mk2;
Overall I like the changes and think it would have been a nice way to modernize the car a bit instead of the lazy changes GM put in as regulations impacted the 2nd gen Camaro.
They gave it a hatch and everything. Looks cool. Definitely a huge departure from a standard secondgen.
Looks like they used second generation Firebird taillights. I don't mind the front view but the rear view doesn't do it for me.
I think I like this better than most 2nd gen camaros I've seen, although the rear styling is definitely the weakest part.
I like how "a GM seat" really looks the same for about a 35 year span. The seats just scream pontiac grand AM/prix or Iroc Z and don't look much different even in a late model tahoe...
Agreed on front styling coming out well and rear styling being weak by comparison. I do like the idea of a functional hatch area being added to the car. Wonder if this had more usable space than the 3rd gen cars. I would imagine so.
The mk2 Capri added a hatch over the mk1 trunk. This is just a Capri!
Sort of also got some late 70s Celtica and early supra mixed with some Lamborghini espada.
as for why well bill mitchell was a big of Italian styling was regularly influenced by it plus he had some very good friends in the Italian design and coach building studios. He would regularly send various different gm cars over for them to work their magic on.
Looks like a case of miscegenation between a Lamborghini Espada and an XJS.....

Reminds me of the Alfa Montreal? But that would have been cribing from Bertone no?

Yeah, she's built like an 80s supermodel. Nice looking up front, but the rear does nothing for us

Those definitely aren't second generation Camaro seats, the side bolsters indicate they're something aftermarket. However the upholstery does look like typical 1970s GM material

I never realized how long the Camaro is.
I'd Sunday drive it. Do some mild exhaust work, make the engine breathe and just enjoy taking it for a nice drive.
I'd daily it but other drives suck and I can imagine trying to repair a minor fender bender would be a huge hassle, let alone anything even slightly more substantial like needing a fender or grille...
The nose is pretty and, yeah, the tail doesn't look finished. If the rear could have looked more like a Monza....
I can't be the only one thinking this...
......any influence on the design of the DMC-12?.... hmmm....
To me, the DeLorean is textbook Giugiaro: crisp lines as if the sheet metal was folded like a piece of paper. That Italian Camaro almost looks like it has some Lancia 037 Stradale in the nose. The "regular" Camaro almost looked a bit Italian, but I'm digging this version. I'd say without the T-tops, though.
I'd put a Ford badge on the front and take it to Cars and Coffee and see how many "nice Capri" comments I get.
Something about it oddly reminds me of an XJS.
The rear should have been the easiest part to make better, what with the flaccid trunk design on the GM design. This is better, but only in an Italian way.
Everything forward of the B-pillar looks pretty cool. The ass end looks pretty cheesy.
The back looks like a Datsun Z car of some sort with Firebird taillights grafted in. I'll bet those seats were put in much later.
