Does anyone know if there will be any issues with topcoating this primer with an acrylic enamel auto paint? I am about to start priming my design capstone model and I really don't want to have to paint it twice because of a compatibility issue. Thanks!
It's odd. The Rust-Oleum 2 in 1 Primer says it will work under most brands of automotive lacquers and enamels. The stuff you have says nothing. Seems like you have a couple of choices. Spray some scrap with your primer, let it dry, shoot it with your finish, and see what happens. Or you could call Rust-Oleum and ask what will work.
Personally, the "most" in "most brands of Automotive lacquers and enamels" would spook me. Think I would do a test spray on scrap regardless...
I had adhesion issues with PPG Omni epoxy primer over Rustoleum primer. I don't remember exactly what the rustoleum can said. You should either topcoat with rustoleum, or buy the recommended primer for your acrylic enamel. Also - acrylic urethane is easier to work with and more durable than acrylic enamel.
