I'm curious as to what you guys say is a realistic number as to a proper budget of getting into something turbo (purchase + initial tuneup to make reliable).
Restrictions: Must be California smog legal, stick shift, not a convertible, and rear tires must be powered (rwd/awd). Bonus points for something I can rallycross and/or has 5x114.3 bolt pattern with an offset/hub center that'll accept Mustang wheels. Prefer low maintenance, so I'm assuming carbs are out.
I'm thinking a Mk III Supra Turbo is going to be the cheapest option, maybe a turbo Z31 if I could find one?

Mk3 supra turbo.

1st gen Legacy Turbo.
86 up Turbo Z car.
Early Isuzu impulse Turbo (88 model shown here:

Peugeot 505 Turbo
Thunderbird Turbo Coupe (falls in line w/SVO and XR4ti)
Porsche 924 Turbo
Nissan 200SX Turbo
Audi Turbo Quattros
Fiat 124 Turbo
